Composable DXP - a clear overview

Building up DXP.

Responding to a continuously changing IT landscape

A digital experience has a huge impact on how your customers perceive your brand, product or service. They indirectly determine the degree of success for your organization. That makes offering an optimal and personal experience all the more important. New possibilities in technology offer your organization opportunities to respond more quickly to the requirements of your customer. In this blog we tell you more about the Composable Digital Experience Platform, an approach to remain agile in the future.

What is a composable digital experience platform?

In short, a Composable Digital Experience Platform (DXP) is an ecosystem of self-assembled integrated software to deliver seamless, customized experiences. For each specific purpose you can choose an optimal software solution that offers the best possible solution for your organization. For example, Content Management, Digital Asset Management, search, or analytics. We call these 'best-of-breed' solutions – software focused on one business process. A DXP offers you complete freedom to compose the platform yourself.

Often the architecture of a DXP consists of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based systems. The big advantage of this is that the responsibility for availability, functioning, upgrades and more lies with the different SaaS suppliers. This removes concerns about pressure on the system, allowing developers to focus on what really matters: continuously improving the customer experience.

Modulair vs monolitisch

Unlike a composable DXP, where you can build the entire platform yourself, a monolithic platform offers a turnkey all-in-one suite. This means that the suite offers a total package with various functions, each of which solves a problem. When you start assessing these functions individually, you will quickly see that the possibilities are limited. A best-of-breed solution, on the other hand, focuses specifically on one problem, resulting in a powerful platform.

De schaalbaarheid van een DXP

Another drawback of a traditional suite is scalability. When choosing a traditional suite, you choose one software supplier, one platform. That makes it difficult to scale up individual parts of the platform. While this was seen as solid and stable in the past, it currently holds back growth and innovation. A composable DXP, on the other hand, is built to respond to continuous evolution. Old systems can be replaced more easily and new systems can be added more quickly. More and more organizations are therefore choosing to build their digital landscape based on the DXP concept.
